Never had this issue in Generations (or Unleashed) because there were always plenty of rings to keep the boost going. Too many times in too many levels I found myself without any boost (especially on rails) because there's no Wisp box or enemies to charge it, and the gameplay slows to a boring crawl. In comparison, boosting in Forces just lacks that inertia and feels underwhelming.Īnd while I'm on the subject of speed, I really hate how they changed the boost's energy requirements from collecting Rings to Wisp boxes and enemies. The perspective stretches and the camera pulls in close to Sonic. In Generations, when you boost as Modern Sonic (especially in the third person sections), it really feels like you're boosting at incredible speed. But I can't help but feel that Modern Sonic's levels just lack certain things that made Generations (and Unleashed before it) so enjoyable. So I've been playing Forces for a week now, have completed it, and am having fun going back and trying to speed run and improve my times.
